I ordered a Dell computer series 4550 Dimension on 02/09/03. It was suppposed to have the new thin, flat monitor as well as a lot of other bells and whistles. You would think at right at $1400, correct? I was told it had a $200 rebate as well. I was promised delivery within 15 days at the most.
When I had not received anything by the 25 I CALLED THEM AS I HAD OVERNIGHTED A CASHIERS CHECK TO PAY FOR IT IN ADVANCE. It was determined after two days and many phone calls the check had arrived but had not been credited as the lacked the order for it somehow. This was straightened out and again promised computer within 5-10 days.
Receive computer way after promised time with clunky old style monitor and it would not connect to internet. Spent 6 hours on phone with service the 5th time after having it a week and it was determined buy them there wasn't a modem installed??? They sent another one and offered me a Lexmark printer to make up for inconvience at no charge. They had sent me a web cam to make up for first mix up. Well I got the printer before I got the second tower.
When I did get tower it took many hours on phone with service and MSN service as well before we finally got it reconfigured to work actually to then find out free printer didn't have neccessary drivers to make it work.
Again hours on the phone. With 2nd printer was return shipping material to return first printer which I did. Was told then that rebate was only $70 and that I got the monitor I had ordered, end of discussion. After all they had lost the original order so they couldn't be wrong again, right?
Computer was and is a dog, so slow it is unbelieveably. My 10 year old Packard Bell was quicker and better I believe. If I'm on internet and have three screens open I only have 42% of resources left free. This was order # 238931480, by the way. It most time won't let me close windows and quite often drops to 30% free if checking email.
Tired of fighting I determined to live with it and make it work somehow. Sent in rebate form for $130 less than I was promised which I have yet to receive and shortly I get a bill from some other company for close to $200 for second printer. Last I heard they were going to sue me for it.
Have already sent Dell all paperwork proving first was returned at their request, demand would be more like it really. So I didn't get the monitor I ordered, it took two towers for one to work and two free printers to make up for agravation which I have one of and am being sued for the other so what's free?
The camera was broke when it got here and has never worked and I never got any refund on the computer purchase. So, I never got what I was promised and paid big time for and what I do have can't be working correctly and be this s - l - o - w and using up so much resources doing nothing.
I've written 4 or 5 letters and never received anything, not my letters back or a reply. Oh, but I did get what I had been wanting for years, A Dell computer, right?
My lesson learned? Be careful what you wish for as you may just get it.
