I bought a CD burner from office max. The burner was made by verbatim. After owning the burner for 8 months, I notice the burner was burning corrupt disks. On average 4 out of 8 burns were failed burns (meaning that the CDs were corrupt and could not be used). Two months late the CD burner's CD tray would not open up. Whenever I pushed the button to open the CD tray I would hear a grinding sound.
I called verbatim, verbatim told me that the CD burner was a product of Cendyne and that Cendyne handles these issues. So I called Cendyne, they told me to try doing some updates on the drive. After doing the updates I found that nothing had changed.
At the same time I sent an e-mail to verbatim about this problem. Someone from verbatim e-mailed me back stating that I would be able to send the burner back all I would have to do is give the burner information. I sent the rep all the information (the time period for this is 11/3/02 to 12/7//03).
The last e-mail I sent to the rep was around 1/4/03. I have not received any information as to how they are going to handle the replacement of the product or anything. Currently, my warrantee has passed (11/29/03 warrantee expiration).
According to Verbatim my warrantee has been extended due to the fact that my case was opened on the 11/1. But as it stands I don't know what they are going to do to solve this matter or for that fact if they are going to even respond to my e-mails.
