On December 8 I purchased an 80G 7200 RPM Ultra Series Hard Drive model number L01P080 form Office Depot in Sugar Land, Tx. I was responding to an Office Depot ad that offered $50 in mail in rebates. The rebates consisted of 2 seperate rebates. One of $20 and another of $30. I filled out the forms properly, included the required enclosures and mailed it a month before the Feb, 3 2004 deadline.
The rebates stated that the purchase must have been made between Nov. 23 and Jan. 3, and must be postmarked before Feb. 3. My sales reciept clearly showed these requirements and I used the rebate form that printed out from the Office Depot cash register at the time of purchase! On Jan. 13 I received an email from Maxtor Rebates that stated my rebate status as "not valid". A paragraph followed saying I was not eligible for the rebate because I didn't purchase the hard drive between the required dates. I did. They're wrong. I'm going to fight this.
