Skybeam only provides a fraction of the service that the individual pays. It appears, from other reports, that this is a current issue that is only getting worse.. There standing at the BBB went from an 'A' rating to an "F" rating since their membership began in May of this year.
Skybeam has basically just went around buying smaller internet providers and adding their coverage to their own claiming they're all the same company when in fact they're just a bunch of
smaller companies who report to Skybeam on paper.
I am tired of repeated outages/downtime with no apparent explanation or cause. I used to love my service from Central Texas WI/FI. They had local presence, super responsive, friendly techs, you name it. Things really went downhill fast when Skybeam bought them out. Poor service, infinite hold times, no call backs, rude techs, you name it.
I pay for the Power Surfer 5MB service ($69.95 per month). We have had no speed over. 5 - 1MB now for the last 3 months. I (as many others in my area) have no other options for service providers.
I fully recommend this service provider for those of you who want to waste time and money, but offer this advice; find someone else (if available). My package is for a very high rate of speed and unlimited upload and download of data, which I suppose they are living up to if you are able to connect and stay on line through their service. What do you think?
