Our apt. Complex is wired for FiOS, so on changing rooms I "upgraded" to FiOS from a Verizon DSL dry loop just to have internet. (It seemed a coercion, with no explanation of why even moving web sites said I couldn't just get a dry loop in the new room.) Verizon kept billing me for the old service, so I spent the obligatory hour-plus with their customer service to ensure that account was terminated. That was four months ago. Today I get a letter from a collection agency - first time in my life - for over $100.
It took nearly 3 hours today to find that Verizon sent the final bill three times to my old address - I am both a current FiOS and wireless customer, so they know where I live - then simply turned me over.
My letter from a company called EOS CCA simply said, you owed Verizon this much, you have 30 days to dispute, or we'll assume it's valid - pretty wild, eh? After all, it's either valid or it isn't!'No explanation of what the bill was for; were it not for finally reaching Verizon's Financial department, I would have chucked it in the trash as a scam.in fact, EOS CCA has a nice internet following now from people who believe they've been falsely billed for accounts they closed long ago or never even set up. I relayed this to Verizon Financial, and neither woman even feigned an apology.
This is what lack of competition does.
Verizon, YOU SUCK.
