I am usually fairly upfront with ideas for companies and i send a lot of emails, because i get recognition in return. Usually some from of compensation because they generate a lot of income.
One idea that has gone unrecognized apart from a simple 'thank you', i sent to Internode about 3 years ago. It was the 'data block' system they are now using. This system has been mentioned in recent financial reports as one of the reasons that internode is such a success.
They are a good internet company, run by greedy people though. Anyway, i got ripped off in a way... And that is why i am writing this report.
If i had some recognition formally, i could use that to add to my resume for getting jobs after i finish my communication (advertising) degree.
I think it's a lesson for everyone that has an idea for a company, sometimes, not all of them, but some will just take your idea with a thanks and if it does well, pretty much not give a hoot about the struggling uni student that gave birth to it.
