TechMaster, Computer Repairs RipOff without giving proper logical reasons

I have recently sent a laptop back for repair because the back VGA port is flickering and my warranty was almost over "1 week left". I gave them a call and they picked it up.

Few days later they give me a call asking if i had set a password, i said no since i did a clean format before sending them the machine. They tried to charge me for the password reset etc.

After awhile, they called again telling me that my keyboard was void from warranty because of "Liquid Damage". So i asked, how do you mean liquid damage of course. The reply i got is that either i have pour water on the laptop or due to humidity.

Logically thinking, if i have poured water on the keyboard or due to humidity, wouldnt the motherboard/ram etc components be effected too? Right, so i asked them to check the mobo and they said the mobo is fine.

They offered to repair the keyboard with a charge so, i asked them how much is it for the repairs? They said NZD$125 and i was like umm... Keyboard for that price? Nah. So i asked them if they could send me back the computer without repairing it? They said that i would have to pay NZD$65 for an inspection fee.

I was not happy with the result and then she said that she would send me pics of the keyboard and i said yeah please. I got the pictures and i didnt see any liquid damage or water marks as claimed by them. Only fingerprints of the technician handling the computer.

So, what i did was asked them to provide me with a picture and circle the part which is marked by water or contains the "Liquid damaged" area. They didnt reply after that.

I am very reluctant to pay the money to them because the machine is still under warranty and when i send it in, there was nothing wrong with the keyboard and nothing was faulty except the back VGA port flickering the 2nd monitor display.

I havent paid the money yet and no i do not intend to pay it. I have spoke to a lawyer and i was adviced to go to the dispute tribunals and make a claim.

Im gonna be going there tomorrow. If i dont get a reply from them soon, i would NEVER recommend any ASUS branded products to anyone or any of my customers anymore. As for what i think, i do believe that they are trying to void my warranty since its already almost 2 years and they wanna also rip me off for more money. I dont think i would buy any Asus products anymore no matter how good they are.

Will comment/post feedback regarding the progress.
