I looked up a people search. I was looking for a missing person who was out of touch for so long i thought they may have been dead after several businesses they owned disintigrated mysteriously.
Intelius knows people are desperate when they are looking up someone.
Desperate or emotional, or mad. They take advantage of this.
After reading an email stating i joined idprotect from intelius, i went back to my account and cancelled, 24 hours after i mistakenly signed up.
They sent me a cancellation notice promptly, then snakishly at the end, stated thanks for reinstated my policy when i had only cancelled it.
I would not pay anyone like intelius or any other people search.
They are taking advantage of your fears.
Records should be sacred, and only revealed if the people vote them
or ask them to be revealed. Just like a police report, you do not have to
give them your social security number, etc. People cause problems just to get this information from you. Some for money, some for revenge, some to pin the tail on the donkey, some just to show off their monkey skills.
Do not let intelius do this to you! Go to domaintools.com a part of whois.net.intelius owns lots of domains, at least 500 others that probably are also displaying your information they get perhaps from ebay, perhaps qwest telephone and cable services, perhaps other cable and telephone services. Especially bill paying services. Your account number on a utility bill is like giving away your fingerprints.
Get mad enough to do something about this, but not mad enough to blow yourself up!
