Hound Beware! Will Charge You Even If You Cancel Within Trial Period! Internet

I recently receieved an unsolicited email from Hound.com which stated that I had a 'free' 7-day trial to their job board and that I would not be charged if the service was cancelled within the 7-day period. I had been out of work for the last 4 months, so decided I might as well try the service and see if they were better than the others as claimed.

Within two days, I realized that their postings were out-of-date and many of the jobs listed were no longer available. The following day I sent an email stating I wished to cancel my free trial, a full four days before the end of the 'free' period. Hound.com responded that they would not accept cancellations over the internet and that I would have to call California on my dime to cancel. I was agitated, but then called their office where I got a message that they only are open during West coast business hours. I finally reached a customer service representative, who did not state their name, the following day (three full days prior to the end of the 'free' period) and explained my dissatisfaction with their service. The rep stated that my service was cancelled and I would not see a charge appear on my Paypal account.

To my utter amazement, the following week I checked my Paypal account and their was a charge for 29.95 from Hound.com. I issued a complaint through Paypal and called Hound.com again. A different rep from Hound then told me that my account was not cancelled with my original call and that it was now and I should receive an email stating this. Finally, the account was closed! However, Paypal would not reverse the charge as it was a service and Hound.com had no intention and told me that there 'was nothing they could do' to reverse the charge.

Needless to say, I will never recommend Hound to any job seeker. They are con artists and do not provide any reason for someone to use their service. Save your money and use Indeed.com which is generally free! I hope this helps others out there, so you are not taken for a ride as I was!
