I signed up for Hound.com early on a Wednesday morning for the free trial which, as stated in their terms, "YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO CANCEL WITHOUT CHARGE AT ANY TIME DURING THE SEVEN (7) DAY FREE TRIAL PERIOD." Well, they had hardly any jobs listed, and zero unique jobs available (same jobs were posted on either craigslist or jobsintheus.com), so I logged in to cancel my account on Friday night (I had used the service less than 72 hours) and found that you have to call Mon through Fri (9-5 PST) to cancel. They were closed the following Monday, so I called first thing on Tuesday and canceled the account.
It seemed to have been canceled from the phone conversation, but when I checked my email, they had charged me for the next month! When I had originally signed up, it was Wednesday where I live (and where my billing address is located), but it was still Tuesday night where the company is located.
I had this account for less than 7 days no matter how you look at it. I signed up on a Wednesday and canceled on a Tuesday. I had it for 155 hours which equals 6.46 days. I would have canceled it sooner, but when I was finally able to get hold of them, they had been closed for the past 88 hours straight and there was no alternative way for me to cancel (such as via their website or email).
Bottom line is this sight is a scam. People hear about the website from Hound's radio commercials or their SPAM emails which make false promises of listing unique jobs not posted elsewhere, but these claims are completely unfounded. I would imagine that they make most of their profit off of people who sign up for the trial and are then unable to cancel on time due to their limited hours and cancellation method. They spend more time marketing than they do looking for and posting jobs.
