Len, we can definitely relate to your situation. My fiancee's computer kept shutting down, for an unknown reason. Took it to Rick at Abacus. Before looking at it, he claimed "it must be a virus", and implied my fiancee was surfing porn. When she picked it up the next day, Rick said "cleanest machine I've ever seen, but I added some anti-virus software, so you shouldn't have any more trouble". When fiancee asked if there was no virus, how did installing anti-virus fix the problem, he became ballistic. When she brought the computer home, the same problem as before. She called Rick to say she was stopping payment on the check, since he did not fix the problem. He threatened her by saying she would be arrested, etc. She had Rune PC repair in St. Pete look at it (highly recommend), and was told the power supply was bad. They made a house call, replaced the power supply, and charged half what Abacus charged. Had we checked the Better Business Bureau beforehand, we would never have taken it to Abacus. He is an "F" with the BBB. He also seems very unstable. You've all been warned.
