Web Detectives is an internet scam. It appears to be a conglomeration of multiple companies or subsidiaries which have developed a website whose sole purpose is to con people out of their hard earned money. The service it claims to provide isn't even that good. You could get the same level of detail through using a hardcopy phone book, which would probably be more accurate. The company offers a supposedly "free trial membership" which you cannot cancel. I cancelled my trial membership the same day I got it - or so I thought. The catch is that when you sign up, you're actually signing up for paying to be a member of three or more different services. The website is designed to be confusing, so that you don't realize this fact until its too late. When you cancel your trial membership, the site leads you to believe that the one cancellation is all that is needed.in reality you are still subscribed to three or more other sites and are being billed in advance for a service you don't even realize you're signed up for. You don't realize this until its too late. None of the cancellation methods listed on the site work. Calling the phone number provided just gets you connected with representatives whose sole goal is to stall you from taking further action while they continue to charge your credit card. The only solution appears to be actually cancelling your credit card, so that these unscrupulous thieves can't take any more of your money. This company and its associated businesses should be banned from the internet and investigated for fraud.
