Consumer-Advisory.org looked legit, I took their recommendation for another site to do a search of criminal records — NetDetective. I went thru the sign up process, gave them the credit card info required to access the search (a $29 charge), waited for the confirmation email, and logged in to the site.
I was taken to a page where you input the info but there were no records in the report, I changed the state to the one in which the person whose info I wanted was born, raised and married at least once (previously known info) and again I got no report. Each time I would input a new state in which I knew this person had lived and had some kind of charge filed, I would get looped back to the login page and then back to the inquiry page, and the report would come up blank.
So I went back to the site that recommended them to lodge a complaint. The email address given at that page generated a bounce back:
The following addresses had permanent fatal errors
(reason: 550 No Such User Here)
