Redirected to Restricted only through fake link for webinvestigator.org consumer complaints to remove ad

I cannot believe this just happened. I was actually on usacomplaints.com, reading about a different scam, when I clicked on one of the ads on the left for a free instant criminal background search.

After entering info for the search I was told that there were 12 items found for the particular person I was inquiring about but to view details of these searches I would have to pay a one-time fee of $29.95 to get a 1 year membership to do unlimited searches... After entering visa info, a purchase confirmation page pulls up with a username & password that I will need to access site & there is a link at bottom of page to go ahead & login.

When I login I get a list of links to thousands of other links to do different kinds of searches (criminal records, driving records, adoption records, etc.) The majority of these sites require fees ($19.95 to $49.99 on the ones I clicked on) & the ones that don't require fees don't give you any info.

So basically I just paid 30 bucks to get a list of sites that I probably could have found on one of the many free search engines on the web.

This is when I happen to notice that my web browser says that I am on www.restrictedonly.com.

I type in www.webinvestigator.org & get directed to the REAL webinvestigator.org site which looks completely different. I go to the login area & enter the username & password I was given in my purchase confirmation & it keeps saying "Login failed! Please type valid login or password." I DID NOT GET WHAT I PAID FOR!

I know that usacomplaints.com is not affiliated with any of its sponsors but I can't believe this happened through a link on your site. Will somebody please help me?
