I started getting overdraft charges on my account— which, by the time I found out about them, it was 3 days after the fact— and when I looked at the statement, there was a $6 charge from echargecs.com (who I had never heard of), immediately followed by another charge for $40.27. The bank teller told me that the number immediately following their name is actually a phone number, which I entered above.
When I went to their website, they have a statement saying that they are a company that charges on behalf of other companies, and say that you can opt out in the future by following their link and entering your information, which of course I am not going to do. I am going to have to close out my bank account completely because of this. It is very frustrating.
As I have not been able to pinpoint exactly where and how they even got my account information, closing my account is my only option.
I seriously doubt whether I'll be able to recover this money. But it would be nice. Overall, echargecs.com has cost me over $400 including overdraft fees.
