After a number of unsuccessful attempts to contact Sinulate, I finally sent them this email. It details all of my complaints.
To Whom It May Concern @ Sinulate.com,
In January I ordered one of your products. Your company neglected my order for weeks, until immediately before PayPal was scheduled to return my payment, when PayPal was finally sent notice that the item in question (an internet-enabled vibrator) was being shipped.
I was so thrilled to finally receive the product that I canceled my dispute via PayPal. I came to regret this later when I found that the device did not work as described. My partner and I found it impossible to control the product via internet, as was advertised, and
I sent a detailed report of the device's malfunction to your company.
At this point in time, it was too late to make a another claim against your company through PayPal. Additionally, I became aware of numerous reports against your company at http://usacomplaints.com I was aggravated to find that some of the customer complaints had been made
before I purchased your product, and that other customers had attempted to contact your company regarding your product's defect. This leads me to believe that you sold me the product despite being aware that the product did not work!
I'm finding this transaction particularly upsetting because I feel that your company is taking advantage of your customers' desire for discretion, or even their embarrassment at having purchased such a product. I wonder if you wouldn't have a number of lawsuits on your
hands if it weren't for the nature of your product. I personally think that's it's regrettable that the sex toy industry is somewhat marginalized. I am a huge fan of the rabbit vibrator (which your company utilizes), and I feel that if the industry were not so marginalized, and if women were able to be more comfortable with the
prospect of purchasing a rabbit vibrator, there would be considerably more happy women in the world today. But to get to the point - I feel that as your company's unethical business tactics (taking your customers' money without delivering the promised product) only serve
to further marginalize the sex toy industry, not to mention further frustrate individuals and couples attempting to find a reasonable sexual outlet.
Another concern of mine - In a curious quote fielded by Reuters, the President of Sinulate.com notes that The Iraq war... Was kind of a boom for our company. This raises a number of questions in my mind. My feelings on the politics behind the war aside - it strikes me as
being particularly low - that your company would take the money of soldiers trying to keep up some romantic tension with their partners or loved ones back home without providing the service promised. Please tell me this isn't the case!
