Ohio Computer Recycling
Chris Weber the scam artist from Ohio Computer Recycling and ebay seller id: ohiocompute

To whom this may concern:

I am an ex-employee of Chris Weber, I worked for him in 2006. I have recently become aware of the electronic waste that is being shipped illegally from the United States to China. Ohio Computer Recycling ships all of the materials that he cannot turn around for a profit on eBay and ships them China to collect a profit. He told me this himself. Once the containers have reached there limit they are shipped to China. I would like to see an investigation on his business practices be reviewed by the Ohio EPA.

If you view there web site it will look as though it is a great service to take all of your unwanted electronic items to be recycled safely. Large corporations, small businesses, and people just like you and I take your items to be recycled to this company. They then sell anything that will make a profit on eBay. If they are unable to be sold on eBay then he puts the rest of the materials in containers to ship to China.

Mind you that the computers and hard drives that he is selling have only had a quick formatted disk to delete of the hard drives. Which is a huge security risk for the donors.

Http://www.ohiodropoff.com/redeployment programs.html "Ohio Computer Recycling's Redeployment Program is a win-win situation. For the individual or business that needs the equipment disposed of, we accept the equipment free of charge. After the process of cleaning, testing, and refurbishing, the end consumer can buy quality equipment for next to nothing. We have many outlets for consumers to purchase from: Servers, LCDs, TVs, Desktops, Printers, Projectors, Fax, Copiers and much more"

Windows (all versions), and even MS-DOS before it, has the option to perform what's called a "quick format".in reality, a quick format does very little except create an empty root directory on the hard disk and possibly add a label. The rest of the disk is actually assumed to be properly formatted already and left alone. That's why it's quick. And that's why it's insecure. Since the rest of the disk is left untouched, any data that may already have been there will remain. Many commonly available disk recovery tools will be able to recover data from a "quick" formatted disk.

Here is there seller id and the listings from his most recent sales: http://myworld. Ebay.com/ohiocomputer/

The operating systems that he is installing on these computers are pirated copies of Microsoft XP. It has been several years since I worked for him and I highly doubt he has changed his business practices since then, but I am hoping that I am wrong.
