Employee took phone call re: free Yellow Pages listing if company info was verified. Employee thought it was verification for the 'traditional' Yellow Pages and asked them three times about this being free with no other charges.

Each time they said that that was correct. Received Feb. Phone bill with a charge of $29.95 tax for monthly online service and website maintenance (for a company that isn't even hooked to the internet!)
Made 3 or 4 heated calls to Liberty, each time getting a different customer rep, none of whom were born in any English-speaking country. Although Liberty refused to credit this first-month charge and would only cancel future charges, Southwestern Bell said to deduct it from the bill and they'd charge it back to Liberty. SWB also gave authorization to deduct any future charges should they show up again.

It appears that the best way to handle this sham is to contact Liberty first to get the service cancelled (get a cancellation verification number), then read them the riot act as many times as you can stand to argue them. Then contact your phone company while your bill is still current and before the due date.

Along with reporting it here, I've filed a fraud report with the FCC on their website, and plan to do likewise with state AG, Public Utilities Comm, and any other entity that can help put a stop to this crap!!!
