Privacy Matters 123
Unauthorized charges to my credit card

Because I did not "police" my credit card statement every month, when I finally got around to it, I noticed several unknown charges for several months. The charges ranged from $1 to $29.95 for a total of about $130.00. I called the phone number listed on my statement next to the Privacy Matters name. I asked what the charges are for, I was told it was to pay for a membership that I did not cancel within a few days. I told the woman I did not sign up for this membership, she said "Maam this is a secured site, would you like me to cancel your membership?" I said yes, she hung up. The next morning I had 2 emails telling me my membership had been cancelled. I called my credit card company to see if they would reverse the charges, they wouldn't but did offer to call Privacy Matters (PM) and ask them to refund the charges. PM agreed to refund the last charge. After reading several post on usacomplaints.com, I decided to send PM an email demanding a full refund and that I would be contacting the BBB. I did send them the email and I registerd a complaint with the BBB. A few minutes ago, I received an email from PM saying I would all of my credits to my bank within two business days.
I can't understand how this kind of practice can continue and companies like this not be prosecuted. I almost convinced myself that this was a lesson learned and not persued a refund. I'm thankful for usacomplaints.com, it gave me the determination to persue a full refund. There is no telling how much money this company has coming in every month on unsuspecting consumers like myself, but if you demand a full refund and stay on top of it until you get that refund, it may help to shut this type of company down. I am not going to stop with a full refund, I'll do some research and find out who the proper authouries are and try my best to stop this kind of practice. Demand your money back and don't give up until you get it.
