I just wanted to follow up on what another post said on here, I got 1 of these letters and check today, the addy and bank is not the same as the above listed post but everything else was the same, I called the bank myself and was told a stop payment had been put on the check on July 2nd the same date the check was written.
I called and talked to a Derek he would'nt give me his last name and followed his speal and then asked him to issue another check and he asked why? I told him they had already cancelled the check and he hung up on me.
I called back and followed the whole thing again and asked why I would have to mystery shop Money Gram or Western Union for so much money and why did they want it sent over seas's... This is like the Nigerian check cashing scam thats been around for some time... If you get these letters in the mail... Just dump them in the garbage, I was lucky enough to check into this before I did anyhting but I tell you I guarentee some people have been taken by these bogis checks and as bad as it sounds, if you do cash one of these it will come back on you when it bounces and you the person the check is made out to will be held accountable for the funds (if spent already).
I believe they want you to cash the check immediatly and then do the taks before the bank realizes its a bogus check and then your account (if you already have funds in there) is messed up because your spending your own money not the money from the check so your out those funds because the bank will reverse the funds from the check and then your left with nothing, theres so many of these scams going on its hard to tell who's legit and wholse a scam... So do your home work before cashing any of these checks, most legit companies will have you pay for the stuff up front and then pay you back with the amount they offer to pay you... They dont give you the money up front and another thing, most mystery shopping jobs pay 15-25 dollars each not 300.00 or 400.00 like these bogus letters do.
