The Shopping Essentials scam is widely reported, however, the sources of their information must be held responsible also.
I signed up for Classmates Gold Membership and as with others, I started being billed for 19.95 for membership to Shopping Essentials. Fortunately, I caught it the second month, called Shopping Essentials, cancelled my "membership" and was refunded the current month's charges. So I was out 19.95 (money well spent to learn a lesson).
Then I e-mailed Classmates about the problem and got a "canned" answer on how I "signed up" for Shopping Essentials. The process is rather extensive, including agreeing to policies, etc. It would have been impossible to sign up for the services "accidentally". They insisted I agreed to the Shopping Essentials membership.
It is apparent to me that Classmates' website has a leakage and they are turning a blind eye to it, or they are a willing participant to the scam.
Has anyone else out there experienced the same response from Classmates?
