Qwest Braodband
Ploy to upgrade, then overcharge

July 26 I signed up for broadband at the Wal-Mart for Qwest broadband. The deal I agreed to was for 31.99 a month a free month of service and a $70 gift card to Wal-Mart, I got the gift card. I got my first bill dated Aug 7 and I was charged the 31.99 plus a partial month, that was ok. On my bill dated Sept 7 again I was charged 31.99, ok.

In the month of August I was contacted by Qwest and was asked if I wanted to upgrade my service to Silver, I said no not really. They replied that it would cost the same as what I was now paying, and I thought ok, why not? So I did. I got my bill dated Oct 7 my charge now for the service that was suppose to be at the same cost as I was already paying was 59.92. I called. I was told that this was a mistake and that they would take care of it. I got my bill dated Nov 7, not only was it not taken care of my bill this month was 44.99 and still no free month. Dec 7 I received a credit of 57.99 and that was suppose to include my free month and my overcharge or so I thought, because at the same time my bill was still 44.99. I called and was told this was wrong and that it would be corrected, but alas it never was. Jan 7 same thing, this time when I called I talked to what was suppose to be a supervisior who claimed it would be taken care of, I was ASSURED I would not have to call back again. I told them if I had to call back again, it would be to cancel.

Sure enough, same story, this time I did cancel, then they tried to give me three free months of service not to disconnect. I said no, there are pricipals here. They should have thought about that before they yanked me around, now they are saying that the charges where correct all along, regardless of what the customer rep said. When I got my last bill with the broadband on it it had a 15.52 credit on it for the broadband.

April 7 I received a final bill; 92.85. Three or so days later I started receiving phone calls on my cell phone from a collection agency, I told them I wasn't paying a dime till I got this straightened out with Qwest, they suggested I pay the 92.85 and then get a refund from Qwest. It amazes me how stupid some people can be. I called Qwest to straighten this out, they won't budge. Amazing, three free months of broadband would have been 95.97 more than what they say I owe, yet they won't budge because I won't play their game. I know a company their size could make this right, but they won't.

Unfortunatly I don't have any broadband now because, besides our local cable company Mediacom, also bandits, they are the only option in my town.
