I went to Ribbitt Computers with my daughter on 2/18 to purchase a computer. We purchased a refurbished HP D330 P4 2.4HGz 512 MB 40 GB Desktop for $249.00. Before we purchased it, my daughter specifically asked the salesman if the computer had Microsoft Word, and he said yes, it does. After getting home and hooking up the computer the next day, we discover it does NOT have Microsoft Office, it has Open Office. We called the store, and the manager told us that it was an "honest mistake" and we had the choice of returning the computer or purchasing Microsoft Office for $145.00. She refused to offer us any type of compensation. She only would offer to tell her employees that the computers do not have Microsoft Office. Anyone with a small knowledge of computers knows the difference, so I cannot believe he "misspoke", as she said. We told her that was a $145.00 word. I do not believe my complaint was adequately resolved. The salesman told an absolute falsehood and we should be compensated with either receiving Microsoft Office or the $145.00 to purchase it.
