FreeRingers
Bait and Switch

According to FreeRingers.net, before purchasing their services, "you are required to test your phone with our Test Your Phone feature to verify your phone works with FreeRingers. Receiving the actual Relayed Files on your phone and using them in their intended usage is considered a successful test. Anything less is considered unsuccessful." So, prior to purchasing their services, I tested my phone and my husband's phone for both a ringtone and an image. Both worked wonderful on both phones.

I was happy and satisfied. I purchased their services and began to send ringtones to our phones. Within minutes, I would receive a text message from the company; but without an attached ringtone. I tried SEVERAL different ways, all unsuccessful. I then contacted the company for support in using their services.

The first email was very helpful. I followed the new steps just as given (which coincidently, are not the same given in the website instructions). Still, no ringtone attached to my text message. I emailed them again.

Their response was as follows: "Our tests are done with the exact same application as in the member area, so there can be no difference." However, there obviously is a difference or the ringtones that I paid for would have been attached like the free one was.

After several correspondences in which there was still NO success on my end, I received the following email from FreeRingers.net: "Keep in mind that NO ONE else has EVER reported a problem like this before, and we have over a million users and hundreds of thousands of them use Verizon." At this point, I considered this an insult to my integrity.

I emailed them again, reminding them that I have followed their directions repeatedly and that I was beginning to feel that their services were a scam. They replied with: "We've never heard of anything like your problem, and we've given you instructions in our last email to go through." (Please keep in mind that I have REPEATEDLY followed these instructions.) "But, at this point we're guessing that you're playing games with us, and your resistance in doing our tests are confirming this. We're willing to attempt to help, but your story sounds fishy to us."

Completely insulted at this point (since I have done EXACTLY everything that they have instructed), I returned my final email to FreeRingers.net thanking them for their bait and switch scam.

My Point: FreeRingers.net lures you in my allowing you to test their services. Once the test works, you happily pay for their services. However, the supposed same application that is used for the free test and the paid ringtones does not work.

Lure you in with the bait, and then switch the services. Classic!
