Offered free product and all I had to pay was only S&H of $1.98

I heard about blogging and was interested in it but did not know where to begin. One day I received an email promising me a free product (100% FREE Blog Tool Kit - just pay a $1.98 for shipping and handling).

I filled out the order form and waited but never received anything, month or so later on my credit card statement is a charge for $1.98 and $1.88.
On 01/01 I looked at my online statement and it showed $39.95 more than what it was but did not state what. I called the credit card services and they told me it was same as the previous 2 charges.

They gave me a phone number to call which was on the statement 1-800 231-7091 and a man comes on (very unfriendly man) and tells me he is just an answering service and asked me to call the 1-866-407-1026.

I talked to a so called specialist named "Russell". He states that $39.95 is for a monthly "Club Membership Fee" (when did I join a club?).
He states that it was "NOT" mentioned in the original email or the link but instead they had sent an email explaining the terms and conditions.

Is not "ILLEGAL" practice of business to send a copy of terms and conditions after you give them all your credit card and other personal information?
WOW - There is "No way in - HELL" I would have agreed to being charged $39.95 a month for an info on a "CD" which I never received.

I told Russell to cancel the "Club Membership" and few minutes later he sent me a confirmation email.

I will be contacting my credit card company and will be filing a "Charge Back" request for the "UNAUTHORIZED" payment of $1.88 plus $39.95.

I never received the product but I did agree to the $1.98 for the S&H, maybe it's possible to get that back as well.

Do not trust these shady people, someone told me - if they are really offering free product, they can always send it "COD" which guarantees you only pay for what you get. I will never trust or purchase another product this way again.

Call 1-866-407-1026 and give them your name and address, ask them if they can send via COD. I highly doubt it.
