Convienence Fee of $9.95 added in a attempt to collect thier accrued finance charge

Last year I purchased a laptop from Dell with a 0% for 12 month financing promotion. The promotion expiration was 12/01/07. I set up the online payment system and received a paper statement each month. Through out the year I made timely payments, normally above the minumum payment due. I was NEVER charged a convience fee for these payments. The last payment I made was 587.36, the balance due. It was paid on 11/02 and processed on 11/06. The due date for this bill was 11/08.

I received another bill the other day. When I opened it, expecting to find a zero balance, instead I found a "Convience Fee" of $9.95. There was no reason for this fee. I was not late and there is no charge for online payments. Had they been allowed to get away with this 2 things could have happened. First, they would have received a $9.95 fee they should not have gotten. Second, had I dismissed this bill and not looked at it, thinking I paid the balance, next month they could have charged me for ALL the financing. The financing had accumulated to $294.77.

I called and was assured that this fee would be removed, they would not provide me with anything in writing to confirm this. They also could not explain why my account was assessed this fee. Unbelieveable. Consumer beware!
