For years I used a web hosting company called Advances.com. They were great. Suddenly in July I found a charge on my credit card from andhosting.com. Evidently andhosting bought out Advances and without notifying me charged my credit card AND increased my level of service to nearly double what I was paying Advances.
I called the andhosting billing department to straighten out the problem. My complaints were: 1) the amount charged was absurd for a small website, almost double what I was paying before 2) they never notified me of the change in service 3) they automatically charged my credit card without my approval. 4) I had no intentions of renewing my service with them, I wanted to move to another provider at the end of my term and I would have liked to be notified of the renewal so I could have moved.
Rather than refunding me, they convinced me to stay with them and the amount billed would be for two years rather than one. They specifially told me the next billing cycle would be Aug. I told andhosting that I did not want any automatic charges on my credit card and that I did not want automatic renewal in Aug.
Then came Aug of one year after my first incorrect billing and change in level of service. AGAIN my credit card was charged with an amount double that Advances was charging previously! Once again I contacted andhosting and the billing department said that they would credit my credit card account. That didn't happen after 30 days and I refuted the charges on my credit card account with a complete explanation of the problem including dates and names of people I spoke to at andhosting. They still owed me another year of service after all!
My website was immediately disconnected from service by andhosting and so was my email account even though I had already paid for service up to Aug. As far as I can calculate, andhosting owes me about $180 since they are not providing me with service that I paid for in AUg to be good until 2008. They gave me only half of that 2 year service.
But I didn't want anything to do with andhosting because of their incompetancies and did not ask for my remaining year of service or for a refund since obviously they are not capable of getting anything straight. I let my website that I had run for years go into an inoperating state just so I could avoid having to deal with andhosting again. I was willing to "eat" the $180 AND give up my website.
But that's not the end of the story. Not only did I lose my functioning website, got ripped off of about $180, but now they sent me a letter from a collection agency AND I receive daily collection calls! When does the madness stop???
I'm sick to death of andhosting's incompetencies and the pain and suffering they are now causing me. If you are thinking of using them to host your website, think again! Use GoDaddy instead!!! GoDaddy is a fraction of the cost and their service is impeccible.
