I joined Service Magic as a small painting company looking for new paint leads. I thought that sending the same "lead" to 4 different contractors was excessive, but I really needed the work, and I am very professional, so I thought I could make it work.
I received a couple of good leads, but mixed in were charges for people who never answered or returned calls. Also jobs that were off of my field of work were billed out at close to $50 per lead.
When trying to resolve the bogus leads, I called with a positive attitude toward reconciling the problems. They could not possibly tell me over the phone that they were going to go through with the charges on some of these.
I was very wrong. The woman on the other end told me that even if the person never returns my call or contacts me in any way, that it is still a "good lead", as I can put them in my "data base for future job contacts". At that point I felt that I was being treated as a mark, a visa card to charge, and a fool.
I called my bank to try to put a stop on the charges, but servicemagic had already charged all the "leads".
I would never recommend this company, and would be interested in any class action law suit. The key dispute is that these are not leads at all. When I get charged $ 38- $ 50 per "lead" and the contact person is completely unreachable, that is in no way shape or form a lead.
Service Magic is a money grubbing, corporate w*e.
