I ordered a camera online from best price camera. The list price on the site was $899 for the canon eos 30d and lens kit (package #10). Listed accessories were at the bottom of the page.
Chris (x244) called and emailed me about confirming my order. I called to confirm, at which time he asked what kind of accessories i needed: rapid-charger? Extended-life battery? Warranty?
When i inquired about the package price after a warranty was mentioned, he informed me that the price was now at $1899.99. I told him i was not interested in purchasing the item anymore, and was going to look elsewhere. He kept trying to swindle me into buying a different package, or switch some of the items around so they could keep my business. Again, i told him i was not interested. If i changed my mind, i'd call back. He said they can't hold items, and they'd probably sell-out if i didn't buy it. I told him that's fine if they sell out, my loss. Told him again i wasn't interested, and said "i'm hanging-up now".
A few hours later, i received an email from UPS stating that my overnight order was being processed. I called my credit card company, and they told me i had been charged $1899.99.
I called best price camera the next day, asking why they charged my card, when i had not authorized them to ship that order. The service manager (chris x244) was very rude to me, and told me it was my fault it was processed because i had asked them to hold my order. I reminded him that i did not say "hold my order, " i said, "i'm not interested, and am going to explore other options". This conversation went nowhere. He said i could return the package, but pay a restocking fee.
I called the next day, after i had gotten the package, to get the return authorization number. They were closed from 9/26-9/29. I called 9/30. No manager is available on sundays to help me.
I called 10/1. Left 2 messages for chris to call me about this.
I called 10/2. Finally spoke to him, but he put me on hold back-and-forth between himself and customer service until they closed.
I called 10/3. They were closed early.
I called 10/4. They were closed 10/4-10/7.
I sent a fax 10/6.
I called 10/8. Left 2 messages for chris again.
Up to this point, there had been 4 days of 14 when a manager was on-duty for me to speak to. 2 of those times, i had to leave messages which were not returned.
I called 10/9. Spoke to chris. He told me i'd have to pay a 15% restocking fee, and that would lower my return to $1424.99. I later checked this, and 15% would be $284.99, not $475 (25%).
He also said since it had been more than 7 days, he could not give me an authorization number. I explained to him again that i didn't authorize them to charge my card this amount, and that they had only been available 4 days out of 2 weeks to speak to, and they had danced around my calls when i was able to get through. He told me to sell my items on ebay. Then tried to persuade me to just return the lens, which they wouldn't charge restocking fees on, then sell the rest on ebay. I told him i didn't want to deal with him or the company anymore, that i just wanted an address to send the package back to, and the return authorization number.
He then transferred me to customer service. Which transferred me back to his voicemail. I left another message. Which, gosh... Wasn't returned.
So, i'm stuck with this camera package. I can't get in touch with them to get a return number.
DO NOT buy from them. It will only mean a headache for you!
