Do not buy from thedigitalexpo.com!
I ordered a camera online from thedigitalexpo.com. When I completed my order, I was instructed to call them to confirm my order so they could expedite it. When I called, I quickly realized the reason they really wanted me to call was to try to sell me additional items. They tried to sell me a battery for $80 that I knew I could by elsewhere for as little as $8.95 (same brand and model number). They tried to sell me a 1GB memory card for $180 (I purchased a 2GB memory card for $69.99 elsewhere). They tried to sell me an extended warranty for $180.
When I hesitated, they lowered the price to $129.99. They told me that I could only buy the extended warranty with the camera. So, if I didn't buy it then, I would not be able to buy one at all. I went ahead and bought the extended warranty. I later found another vendor selling the exact same extended warranty for $49.99 (I didn't have to buy the camera from them. I simply had to complete the warranty registration within 30 days of the camera purchase).
I called thedigitalexpo.com and told them I still wanted the camera, but I wanted to cancel my order for the extended warranty. They tried to get me to accept other items, claiming their value was much higher than it was. When I insisted I simply wanted to cancel my order for the extended warranty, they told me my order had already shipped and that I would have to pay a 20% restocking fee. I asked for the tracking number for my camera and they told me it wasn't available yet.
Five days later I had already received the 2GB memory card, battery and extended warranty I had purchased from two other vendors. I called thedigitalexpo.com to get the tracking number for my camera. This time they told me that the camera was shipped three days ago (two days after I was previously told it had already shipped). They told me to call back after 5:30 P.M. And I would get a tracking number then.
After the call, I noticed that their Website indicates that their Customer Service Department closes at 5:00 EST. I checked my credit card and found that they had refunded the entire amount of my purchase (for the camera and the extended warranty) the day I called to cancel the extended warranty.
I called them back and spoke with a man by the name of Ronald. He told me that he is the owner of the company. He told me he would get a tracking number, but then told me that the camera was being shipped today. I told him that I had been told that on two previous occasions. He assured me that it was being shipped today. I told him that I had checked my credit card online and noticed that they had refunded my entire purchase. He asked me why the Hell I was calling if I already got a refund and hung up on me. I called back and spoke with JJ. He told me that since I cancelled the order for the camera, they cancelled the entire order and that I could not reorder just the camera.
Evidently, the way these people do business is to lure customers in with a low price on the primary item (the camera) and they try to rob them blind on accessories. Because I wouldn't let them do that to me, they wouldn't let me buy just the camera. These people are very dishonest (I kept getting different stories from different people, etc.). I'm just glad I got my money back! I purchased the camera from another vendor for just $7 more without any of the hassles. The other vendor, like many vendors, allows you to track your order through their Website (the Website for thedigitalexpo.com does not).
