If you ever used System Mechanic 3 years ago you had a pretty good piece of useful software. I've tried SM5 also and found it to be reasonably good but with way too many clicks to get where you want to go. I don't like to keep clicking "next" too many times.
Now to the piece of trash I purchased a couple months back - System Mechanic 7. If you're thinking this is what you need you probably should do more research. This software is a horrible piece of junk. It is no more than an idiot-clicker and the settings are not reliable. I have reset the options several times and they won't stay put.
I wasted $70.00 on this disk and I was supposed to get a $70.00 rebate according to the ad at Fry's Outpost. I sent in everything Iolo requested and a month later got a postcard back refusing any rebate because of some vague statement about "invalid postmark". Well folks, I don't work at the Post Office and I sent everything in ON TIME like you asked. I think this is just another scam. They requested my old System Mechanic 5 disk and never even sent it back.
If you want a really good piece of software that's 1000% better than this go to http://www.macecraft.com / and for only $29.95 you can get "jv16 PowerTools 2007".
This is another case of 'Buyer Beware'.
