E-bay was at one point exactly what made the internet great. However, they have gotten so huge that they can't regulate all the hustlers on their site. I buy and sell gold and silver bullion on e-bay and have conducted a minimum of $100,000 in transactions. My wife decides she wants to buy a Seinfeld DVD, send's this guy a check for $29.00 and never recieves it. We never hear from the guy, ever.
We get his phone number and address and call him. No return call. We call his local police department and file a report, they investigate and determine that it's a civil matter. We try to address this with E-bay and get nowhere, not even a return phone call. We try to leave negative feedback and can't because he pre-emptively left negative feedback on me, for no reason.
First of all, it's only a matter of time before eE-bay gets sued. Secondly, with all the money they're making, and they're making a fortune, you'd think they could hire investigators or complianace officers.
I highly recommend a boycott of E-bay until they put some money into the protection of the people who make them filthy rich.
