I purchased a mac laptop for my daughter from Computer Renaissance (CR) in Rochester, NY. Within less than a year, the screen went blank. Took power book back to (CR) location, and it took the compnay over one month to fix the problem. Manager stated that a new motherboard needed to be put in, so I told them to do so. After waiting over a month, I pick up the power book, and it seems to work fine. Later that evening, the laptop didn't light up, so I called the company back. They stated to bring it back in on Monday to be re-repaired. I didn't have time to bring it back right away, so one week went by. I called again later, and there was no answer, so I took the laptop back to the store only to find that the doors were locked and the store went "out of business" without any notice to it's customers.
I called another (CR) store, and they told me I could bring the computer to any (CR) location. I just happened to be going down to Orland, FL, when I briught the laptop to the Orlando, FL Sands BLVD location. The lady stated she could fix the computer if she knew the warranty was sound. I told her that I purchased a three-year warranty with the company. She told me that when the computer is fixed, she'll gladly ship the laptop back to me.
I don't hear from the Orlando store until Friday at 5:00 PM, when I'm ready to leave back to NY. I call back, no answer. So I call back again on Monday to find out that the warranty I purchased was never entered into the system, so basically I would be charged $450. To have the laptop fixed.
I have the receipt for the warranty, and I also have the existing paperwork for the laptop repairs.
I have been ripped off and want Computer Renaissance to either repair my laptop, or give me my money back.
