Marlo Quinn
Aka MQ Did not ship products or process refunds due Farrugut

I was an Independent Founding Consultant for Marlo Quinn. I purchased several candles to add to my kit on 8/16/06 and for some reason, their online ordering system botched my order charging me $27.50 more than what I was actually shipped. Many months passed as I waited for products to be shipped to compensate for the overcharge. I have since closed the credit card account for which this order was paid. Finally, on 1/23/07 I requested a refund.

On 11/29/06, I placed an order for a customer for some mineral foundation and a Kabuki brush. My customer finally received the foundation (poor quality) and unprofessionally packaged - stuffed with newspaper with the crossword puzzle partially filled and on the comics page someone had drawn devil horns on some of the characters. My customer received a backorder slip for the Kabuki brush.

On 1/23/07, I submitted a complaint about the packaging and a demand for either the product or a refund.

On 2/1/07, I found out through message boards that the company has shut it's doors. The only explanation on how to obtain monies due was to submit a PayPal refund request. However, that does not help as I charged my order to another personal credit card.

Marcee and Chris Townsend, the owners, have lied to us for months, claiming that orders were up to date. They even relaunched their website and made it a part of the consultant agreement that consultants were not permitted to post to any internet forum, group, or message board anything that may be perceived negatively about the company.

They have left us consultants high and dry with practically no way for us to get our money back for products never shipped. I can request a chargeback on my November order, but I closed the original credit card account in late October that I used for the August order. They have damaged the reputations of those who supported them from day one with this fiasco. This was our reward for our cheerleading, patience and support.

I'm only out about $50, but it's the principle of the matter. The whole thing is comparable to the Sweet Cupcake Candle Scandal - it just took longer to come to fruition.

Shame on you, Marcee and Chris. You should have just given us our money back before you shut down the site and tried to disappear. Even if you didn't pay the commissions, just refund the money for products you never shipped. Your $30,000 UPS bill can be handled by the bankruptcy court but you have hurt the reputations and livelihoods of the people who stood by you. And those cannot be dismissed or regained.
