I had been a good customer of Localnet for years. After getting broadband (Localnet was dialup) I want to end my account in good standing SO I followed their instructions. They wanted me to FAX them my request to end the account and I also followed that up with a phone call. I had paid for my account one year in advance.
They were paid up to date and the account should have just been closed.
They started billing me sending me letters. I called and explained to them that this matter is closed. They claim through various problems that I owed them $5.00, three dollars of the is in fees. WHAT? This is not about the money but about the principle of it. They continue to say that I did not send in the fax. I did. They say it is their word against mine. Good. So, I filed a BBB report in which Localnet failed to respond. I checked the BBB site and found MANY Localnet issues. So be it. Next time, I will check before I do business.
