I purchased a brand new KDS K717 17" Lcd about a month ago. I unpacked it, hooked it up to my computer and from the first time it was turned on I immediatly noticed a bright blue dot on the screen just to the left of the center of the Lcd. Being in computer repair for 23 years I knew what it was the second I saw it. I said to myself "Oh Great" now I know why many of my associates have said to stay away from there products. I then said to myself that at least it is brand new and under warranty and so I just need to hassle with getting it replaced. I have done this with many other companies that are far superior such as Viewsonic and Samsung and have never had a problem. Well for the last month it has been very busy for me so today was the first chance I had to finally call them. I also hesitated because I could not afford to be short a monitor. I thought I would start to check out what needed to be done or where to go to replace it. I got the box to check inside for any paperwork and noticed a large circle with the word "Kares" in it and under that it said that this Lcd was covered under the "Kares" advanced exchange warranty. I thought great they'll ship me a new one and then when I get it I send the bad one back. I grabbed the phone and called the number on the box. I got a lady in customer service and told her I just bought the Lcd and I needed a replcement due to a bad pixel. She then replied with "I'm sorry sir but we do not cover bad pixels". I WAS SHOCKED!!! I said what do you mean you don't cover bad pixels! I have a bright blue dot almost center of my brand new lcd that shows all the time and is very annoying! She then had the nerve to ask me "Well, how big is it? Is it like a pinpoint?" implying that it was no big deal and why am I calling about such a little thing for. IT SHOULD NOT MATTER!!! It is clearly visable and is a defect in thier product. Excuse me for expecting a perfect picture on my brand new lcd which just cost me over $200.00. So because they produce an inferior product I'm suppose to pay even more money to repair thier poor choice in materials and shoddy workmanship and quality control? This is an outrage and it is time that companies are stopped from selling defective product and then be unwilling to stand behind that product and not try to wessel their way out of the warranty. I will never buy another KDS product again and will warn all my customers and suppliers as well. Someday they will pay for the way they have jerk their customers around and when that day comes I will be laughing my head off.
