I recently noticed a $29.95 charge on my Debit Card/Checking Account from Grant Search Assistant when viewing my bank statement. Realizing that I had ordered a $3.95 (S&H) "free" disc from them several months ago, I started checking my previous bank statements and found multiple $29.95 charges, one per month.
I called the company, and explained to them that I just noticed the multiple $29.95 charges, and, since I had never used their "service", and, in fact was unaware of the "add on" charge until now, that I wanted my money back.
They proceeded to explain (repeatedly) that when I ordered the disc, I was given a "bonus" of 14 days of free website "service", and, since I hadn't cancelled within 14 days, that I was obligated to pay. I told them that I did NOT commit to any such charge/service and I reiterated that I wanted my money back.
This conversation continued for 40 minutes, with them repeating the same mantra over and over, and, eventually I tired of getting nowhere and hung up.
They adamantly refused to credit my money, even though I have received nothing in return for the $150 paid to them. My crime? I didn't read the "fine print" on the "thank you for your order" email that they sent me.
