My name is Anthony, I am trying to find help so other service members or there spouse will not continue to get ripped off as German phone company Deutsch Telekom has probably been already doing for years. My Wife is the Active duty soldier and I am the Spouse.
We arrived in Deutschland (Germany) in 2000 of February. And due to being in Germany we were subject to use Deutsch services. We opened a dsl and phone line with Deutsch Telekom and BOY were we making a big mistake! We put like 150 Deutsch Marks down which was the currency at the time, three days we get another bill invoiced in Deutsch stating we need to pay 275.00 Deutsch or our services would be interrupted!
I could not read the invoice, all I could understand are the numbers. Me and my wife are puzzled, so we speak to SGt. Prices Wife who is Deutsch and she translates it for us, we are very angry! I dont pay anything until the first of next month which is March. I eventually get the so called English speaking operators and they are playing games royally!
Now take note this is a English line for American customers and after 15 minutes of me doing my home work and comparing invoices from the previous month she all of all of sudden can speak only a little English. This was like out of a movie or something! From that point my services were cancelled.
We used my Wife social and opened a account as I once had and it was okay at first then all of a sudden in about 2002 of december they did it again Deutsch Telekom double charged us once again. We left shortly after, paid one last bill on what we estimate as a normal month on what the charges were like normally before they staretd ripping us off. We left shortly to the USA but in the back of our minds we quietly stressed that some how it wasn't over.
So as of 2005 a creditor contacts me, who knows how she recieves our home number and she demands 3500.00 or 4000.00 Euros. I explained to Her what I am explaing to you and it's like telling a hyper active Child, Time out. She was trying to get paid, after while of arguing with her she got the message and hung up in my face.
I rencently contacted the STARSANDSTRIPES news paper for Deutschland it's a military funded organization ran by I believe veterans and civilians. This Editor stated to me that I am not the first to have had this happen and unfortuanetly politicans probably know, but enough people aren't complaining. I am asking if some one knows what to do to help me and a number of others out.
