This is another case of ripoff using rebates.
I bought a Yamakawa DVD-R 4.7GB 4x Media from ecost.com on 8/26/05. The product qualified for a $15 mail in rebate. I submitted all the forms, UPC, and other documents they required from me. I also received an email confirming my rebate submission on 9/14/05.
In the email, the listed the following website to check the rebate status:
http://www.yamakawarebates.com
However, as of today (5/14/05), I've not heard anything from them. Its almost 8 months since I received the submission confirmation email.
I tried to check with the website that was listed in the confirmation email. But, it doesn't exist. I also tried to check the manufacturer website (www.yamakawadirect.com) - what a coincidence! It also doesn't exist.
Finally, I checked ecost.com from where I purchased the product. Even there, I couldn't find the rebate information pertinent to this product.
In fact, I bought 2 more products (from other companies) from ecost.com that had rebates but I haven't received any rebates from them too.
Better beware of ecost.com. Especially rebates that come from yamakawa.
