Complaint / Review
Roadside Plus
FRAUD Ripoff

It seems as though Roadside Plus is getting around.

Yesterday, the now-infamous $21.95 charge appeared on my account, and needless to say, I was heated. My bank was able to provide me with the phone number to call Roadside Plus directly. Of course they were evasive.

The first person I spoke with didn't even bother giving me her name, nor any type of greeting worthy of anyone working in Customer Service. She just answered the phone with a shallow, "How can I help you?"

I replied, "What company is this that can supposedly help me?" And there is where I heard the name 'Roadside Plus' for the first and ONLY time. I began to question her about why her company has charged me $21.95, and her reply was that I signed up for a free roadside assistance trial that has since expired.

When I insisted that I did NOT sign up with any such service, she started to get very short with me, even going as far as laughing at my anger on the phone - laughing loud enough for me to hear her! All the while, none of my questions got answers. I immediately asked that my "Account" be cancelled and that I be refunded. She claimed it was cancelled and gave me a confirmation number, but insisted that I was not due a refund due to the expiration of the aforementioned "trial", and that they have the electronic signature documents proving such. When asked to fax it to me, she refused.

I then asked for her name and rep ID, and she wouldn't give it to me. I asked to speak to her supervisor, and that is when she hung up the phone on me.

BUT WAIT! The story continues...

I called back. Got a rep named Tina. Guess I cant complain so far, as she gave me her name right off the bat, and was somewhat more courteous than the previous rep. I asked Tina what type of services her company provides, and she replied, saying they provide roadside assistance and other services. I promptly told her that I did not sign up for their service, and do not require it as I have OnStar.

Tina proceeded to give me the same "7-day Trial" bit that I had already heard, and when I informed her that I signed up for no such trial, she said that no less than TWO emails were sent to my email address regarding the trial offer. Upon telling her that I received no such emails, she then made up another excuse, citing that their emails could have been directed into a bulk mail folder, or that I could have deleted them.

As the argument got more heated, it became apparent that Tina was not going to be very cooperative at all, and that her sole purpose was to ensure that the blame was always placed on me.

I then decided to redirect the conversation into the actual services, asking about how I can even retain the service if I have received no information regarding it. She then asked me to hold on a moment... When she returned, the previously silent background noise had somehow turned into a loud, call-center sounding environment. It sounded like an amateur sound clip being looped over and over, as the "rep" in the background kept repeating the website over and over. Tina then gave me the website herself, www.roadsideplus.Us, and I went there while on the phone with her to check its validity.

The site provided NO reasonable information regarding how to get in contact with any roadside assistance should I actually need it. There was only a space to change vital information like Name and Address (but not banking info), and not much else. I then asked Tina to email or fax me a copy of the electronic signature document, and she stated that she would not, citing a need to protect her company's "security".

This infuriated me even more, as it was MY SECURITY that was obviously at risk here. I then informed her that I could no longer tolerate her company's blatant fraudulent behavior, and that I would be contacting my bank to report the unauthorized transaction on my account. She then gave a snide remark as she hung up on me.

Needless to say, Roadside Plus is anything but legit, and it will please me to see them go down.
