PeoplePC - Earthlink
Ripoff dishonest billing practices

Peoplepc, an Earthlink company is certainly one of the most frustrating comanies I have ever dealt with. I lost service with them for a period in excess of 10 days, without explanation. When I called their tech line, I was told that the problem lay with my computer. I proceeded to take my computer down and re formatted the disc etc. Still couldn't sign on. I finally got so frustrated talking to India and Pakistan that I demanded to be transferred to a higher level tech in the US. He finally admitted that the problem was on their end and that it should be cleared up in a day or so. (this was about 4-5 days in). 4 days later still no internet so I called up and talked to another flunky in a foreign country and told him I was cancelling. He offered me a free month and I told him I was already signed on with another carrier so he could do what he wanted I was out of there. Lo and behold, after I thought it was cancelled I find that they waited a month and then charged my debit card. This charge caused my account to go into overdraft because it was around Xmas and I was unemployed. When I called in to them the reimbursed the 10.95 but I am still out 26.00 for an overdraft fee that they incurred. To date, Jan 29, '06 with some 8 emails and 20 - 25 phone calls they have still done nothing. I feel they are liable and that they committed a crime by withdrawing funds from my account after I had withdrawn my authorization for them to do so. Here is a company that is so afraid that they will not give out a physical street address to a customer, only a po box.
I would like to hear from any other ex peoplepc or current peoplepc customers who have had this problem, with the view of starting some kind of retalliatory campaign to make them take responsibility for their actions. Any suggestions?
