I received my credit card statement and noticed 2 separate charges from TWX*AOL for $23.90 each. Since I have Fios service through Verizon, I knew these were fraudulent. I immediately called my credit card company. They informed me that there where 3 more charges on 12/30 in the above amounts. I immediately cancelled my credit card. I then called TWX*AOL at (800) 827-6364 and received a representative in India.
They wanted to know everyone person that I knew around me and wanted their names. I informed them that it was just me and my minor son and he doesn't have access to computer. He asked me again for names of people around me, and I refused. When he asked me a 3rd time, I raised my voice and he tried the defensive position saying that he was 'only trying to help me'. I then asked him if that was so, why did he keep asking me the same questions when I gave him an answer the first time. He said that some of the info on all five of the accounts were the same as mine.
I then remarked that most of that info is general knowledge (address, phone number, name) and just because it was similar, didn't mean I did it or that I should be responsible for it. He then refused to give me any information on who opened the accounts or when.instead, he directed me to the Fraud Dept (800) 307-7969. I'm sure they'll be as 'helpful' as the billing dept. I'm just glad I cancelled my credit card to keep them from continue to bill me.
