I received a couple of credit card charges that I did not recognize from SCI Stamps.com. I filed a claim with my credit card company, cancelled the charges and got a new card. Within a month of having the new card the same charges from SCI Stamps.com appeared again. I went through the same process, cancelling the card and having the charges reversed. Today I looked at my account and once again there are charges to SCI Stamps.com. I cancelled the card and disputed the charges again.
After some searching I found a phone number for SCI stamps.com and gave them a call. They did have an account with my name and address. The e-mail was wrong (they wouldn't give me the e-mail address that was being used) and the phone number used was very similar to mine but two of the last four digits were transposed. The rep I spoke with supposedly closed the fraudulent account that was under my name but could not provide any answers as to how they had been updating my credit card info with the new card numbers each time. She asked if I signed up for an free X-box or i-pod on line. Apparently this is part of their marketing scheme. I advised that I had never done so. My credit card is always in my wallet and I have no kids or family that would have access to my card. She said that they are going to refund the charges and cancel any pending charges. We'll see if they actually follow through or if they post any new charges when my new card is activated.
