Gateway referred us to Dealtree to trade in our old computer for some cash. We went to their website and filled out the questionaire as to what we had. It then told us how much money we should get for our products.
The total was about $200, which isn't much but better than nothing. So we sent the computer, monitor and accessories to them. When they recieved the box they emailed us saying that our monitor was not a flat screen lcd that it was a standard monitor and that we owed them $75 for disposal! I emailed them back and said it was an lcd screenand they emailed back to say sorry it was a flat lcd screen but the monitor was scuffed and had a dime size dark mark on it and they were giving us $30 instead of the $60 that our survey said.
Then they proceed to tell me that buy looking at my pc they can tell that it had a critical peice missing and that it obviously didnt work and they never even plugged it in. It did work, I was using it 2 minutes before we packed it up to send in.
So they said they were not giving us anything for the computer, I said if that was the case I wanted it back. They said I had to pay $30 to have it shipped, which I think was rediculous but I wanted it back so I paid. Then it never showed up and I get am email saying they recieved the computer back. I replyed to them that DHL never delivered or contacted me and that I wanted it reshipped. Now they want me to pay another $30 to ship it again and I told them that was absoloutly ridiculous and I will not pay it!
That being said I strongly suggest you never trade in a computer and never do business with dealtree for any reasons at all they are scammers out to get your product and not give you the money it is worth.
