Rebate scam ripoff

On Feb. 18 I purchased a Memorex 512mb thumb/travel drive @ Office Depot which came with a $15 mail-in-rebate. The rebate was submmited timely with the UPC from the bubble pack STAPLED to an orignal register receipt.

March 21st. I received a letter from Memorex stating the following: "we are unable to process your request at this time because your request did not meet the following requitements of the offer: It did not meet the cash register receipt requirements. According to the requirements of this offer, a cash register receipt must be submitted".

"If you still wish to participate in this offer please recheck your remittance carefully to ensure that it meets all of the promotion requirements. Resubmitted requests must be within 7 days from the receipt of this letter".

This letter was not signed but closed with, Sincerely, Customer Care Department

I called their toll free number (888-258-4575) and spoke with Kyle (he would not give me his last name). Kyle stated that they did not receive a register receipt. I ask him did he receive the UPC and he stated that he did.
I told him that this rebate is a scam because my register receipt was stapled to the UPC!

I told Kyle that I would notify the Better Business Bureau and he hung up on me!

My wife witnessed the UPC and the register receipt being stapled together.

Memorex is ripping us consumers off! I would like to see a class action suite brought against them!
