Ripoff - underhanded consumer service

AOL - Recently I called the to cancel AOL.instead by mistake I called the number to sign up for a new account. I explained to the Rep. I had called the wrong number. She proceeded to set me up with a NEW account on Dec., 22nd, w / 2 free months, then $17.?? Per month thereafter.

She then transferred me to cancel - to cancel the account I originally called for.

The cancellation dept. Said my old account would be canceled on Dec. 28th, 04 (the end of the billing date, so I continued using that account.

On 12/26/04 I could log on the old account so I called. They said that account had been canceled, so I uninstalled that version, reloaded AOL to sign on the NEW account I had set up.

I could not log on. I again called AOL, and the said that account had been CANCELED. They said I had more than 1 account, that I abused AOL.

Later I called the cancellation number and asked why my NEW account had been canceled. They said there must have been mistake and they canceled both accounts at the same time. They reactivated the NEW account.

This AM I went to log on and couldn't. I called AOL reactivation number, and they said my account was canceled as of today. I remind you the new account was set up Dec. 22nd, 04 and this is the second time they have canceled it with 7 days.

They again said it was cancel because of multiple account and abuse.

I said at this time I had only one account, and it's NOT MY FAULT the reps. Set me up like they did on the 22nd.

The rep. Said they will reactivate this account, BUT if I EVER CANCEL this account, I can NEVER set up another one with AOL.

What kinda crap is AOL trying to pull. They have already been investigated for inflating there numbers, now they set me up like they did with have two accounts open at once (anyways they allow for 2 accounts - even spin offs of screen names), and NOW THREATEN me. What I can't cancel my account If i decide to and later, sign back up?

Who is AOL to treat their customers that way, after they themselves have been hammered on? What make it look like the consumer's fault.

Of course, point the finger at the very people that keep them in business.

What morons.
