On October 27, I won an eBay auction for a complete Acura Type R engine swap. Everything looked fine because the seller had 100% positive feedback and a PayPal verified account, which told me this would be a safe transaction. I paid $3,815.00 for the engine, and the shipping was going to be paid at the port when the engine arrived.
As the days passed, I called the seller for the shipping company information, and that is when my suspicions started. When I saw that things were wrong, I tried to recover my money and filed a complaint through PayPal. PayPal is an eBay company, and they told me they would make a decision in ten days. I filed the complaint on November 12, so I had to wait until November 22 for their response. Their response was that they could not contact the seller and could do nothing. I also tried to contact eBay, and nobody answered my emails. It looks like they won in this transaction too.
From October 27 to November 27, I tried to contact the seller more than 100 times by phone and more than 50 times by email. I also filled out the Square Trade form that eBay provides for fraud investigations, and I filled out an FBI form for this purpose.
The name of the seller is Arthur Scott, and he lives in Tampa, Florida. If anybody knows whether this person really exists, please email me. He was a dealer broker or something like that, and the location was supposed to be at Kissimmee, in Orlando, Florida. If I receive any information on where he is, I would love to travel to see him in person. His company name or eBay seller name was inandout345.
eBay and PayPal just said that if somebody agrees with their policies, that person also agrees to lose money. This is the real eBay/PayPal policy.
