High Point Regional Health System
Treated innapropriately

I recently came to your hospital for a chipped tooth with exposed nerve, since I have no dentist or health insurance it was my ONLY choice. I was treated fairly when I got there, and when I got back to my room. After waiting for about thirty minutes, three doctors came in one was Patrick Cvelic. He treated me as if I had no reason to be there and said quote "I understand, but what do you want me to do about it? Why are you here?" I noticed the doctor that came in with him started smirking, as if it was a joke I was not in on. I told him I had no dentist and no other option. He asked what I wanted to do about the tooth and I told him "I don't know" before suggesting some antibiotics and something to numb the tooth. He told me there is nothing that could numb the pain, the only thing that would help is a narcotic pain medication. He asked me if that's what I was wanting, and I was a blank. I felt like I was getting picked on for coming to the hospital for what turned out to be a serious tooth infection. I had a friend in the room with me and I was further embarrassed when Mr. Cvelic brought up one of my past visits that involved an overdose, before he asked if I was "still using". The other doctor was still smiling and was obviously entertained from how I was being treated. I told him I was there for ANY kind of help, but I too shocked by how awkward the situation needlessly became, I couldn't call him on it. He seems like a good doctor, maybe and thought I was wasting his time but I will never return to your hospital again unless I'm treated like a patient.

Thank you
