I signed up for a 3 year membership end of 2011. The guy that signed me up said you can freeze your account anytime you choose for up to a 6 month period total. You can transfer anytime for free, no charge.
8 months later I start college full time, 2 jobs, I called to suspend it, they said I can't do that, so I found a buyer to transfer my membership. I called to speak to the manager. The front desk worker left her a message with my name and number and promised that the manager will call me back. I waited a few days, didn't get anything.
Then I went to the gym myself after the weekend. And I got to speak to the manager who did not give me a reason why she didn't return my call last week. I explained to her about how I was promised that I can transfer my membership anytime. She said sorry we don't do that it is not in the contract that you signed. Even though the person that signed you up promised you that you can transfer it is not on the paper. People that sign you up get paid by commission so they will say anything to sell you the membership even if they have to lie. So pretty much daylight to you and get you to sign up and then you can do anything about it. You are stuck!!!
