I am an Alexander teacher and received an email my organization (American Society of Alexander Teachers) recognizes as a scam. She never gave any details about herself or her 'daugher' who wanted a large series of classes. Not knowing what I was dealing with, we exchanged several emails and Andrea Barton ended by sending me a check with another name signed and from someone else's address: Laura Benavides, 1749 S. Ash St. Pearsall TX, 78061-2701.
I really don't know how the scam works. I assume that if I cash it she will have my bank information and steal from me. I don't know what to do with the check. Below is our email exhange:

just want to inform you that the check will be getting to your location any moment from now because the Postal Service expects to deliver the item on Thursday, June 28. And i will want you to look out for it.

According to him, it can be cleared up within 24 hours days at any bank in U.S.
Once you have received the Check, have it deposit with your bank, once the Check cleared, you are to take your own money for the lesson, then you would have to forward the remaining money to my daughter's guardian that would be arranging my daughter arrival into the Country and processing of all her traveling ticket with the ticketing office. I will also compensate you with extra $50 for your efforts and understanding. Hope i can trust you with my money?
